Relationship of Hand Grip Strength on The Upper Extremity Function, Activities of Daily Living and Physical Activity Level ın Patients with Postmastectomy Lymphedema: A Pilot Study

This study aimed to investigate the relationship of hand grip strength on upper extremity functionality, activities daily living, and physical activity level in female patients with lymphedema who have undergone breast cancer surgery. A total 15 a diagnosis associated treatment were included study. The presence severity determined by circumference measurement. dynamometer was used evaluate strength. Disabilities Arm, Shoulder Hand Questionnaire (DASH); Milliken Activities Daily Living Scale (MAS);and long form International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ) living activity, level, respectively. mean age 51±10.6 years. DASH score significantly related (r:0.639; p:0,010). between affected side unaffected statistically positively significant (r:0.756; p:0.001).It that MAS value (r:0.609;p:0.016 r:-0.624; p:0.013, respectively). postoperative development time (r:0.574; p:0.025 r:0.766; p:0.001, There no correlations IPAQ strength, DASH, values (p>0.05). Considering these results, we concluded improving early period may increase functionality quality life for patients.
